Israel plans to install a laser interception defense system on fighter jets. The Iron Beam system, developed by Israeli defense companies Elbit Systems and Rafael, is intended to operate alongside existing defense systems Iron Dome, David's Sling, and Arrow.

Daniel Gold, head of research and development in the defense sector of the Ministry of Defense, stated that they are already in the next generation of laser development, aiming to intercept missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Tests have shown that the system can reliably intercept missiles, mortar shells, aircraft, and drones, at a significantly lower cost compared to conventional systems.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog stated that the system represents a 'fundamental change in the world of warfare'.
