Israeli forces seize ship carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza

Israeli soldiers seized a ship, the 'Handala', carrying humanitarian aid bound for Gaza. The ship carried 19 activists and two Al Jazeera journalists, who are expected to be deported.
The operation took place several miles off the coast. According to footage, activists sang 'Bella Ciao' during the seizure.
The ship had departed from Syracuse, Sicily, on July 13. Among those on board were two elected officials from LFI, Gabriel Katala and Emma Furó.
The Freedom Flotilla reported that the Handala was violently intercepted in international waters. The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed the operation, stating that the ship was attempting to break the naval blockade of the Gaza Strip. All those on board are safe and will be deported.
A few weeks ago, the Freedom Flotilla attempted to send another ship, the Madleen, which was also seized. Greta Thunberg was also on board that ship. The Handala was carrying medical supplies, food and medicine.
The crew of the Handala had announced a hunger strike in case of interception.
