US Cardinal Blaise Cupich has called a White House video mixing Hollywood movie scenes with real strikes in Iran "appalling".

The Cardinal, Archbishop of Chicago, stated that treating a real war "like a video game" is unacceptable. The 42-second video, posted on X with the subtitle "Justice a la Americana," alternates between heroic movie scenes and images of strikes by the US military.

Cupich expressed concern that "more than 1,000 Iranian men, women, and children" have been killed by American and Israeli missiles. He added that the government is treating the suffering of the Iranian people as entertainment.

"We lose our humanity when we are fascinated by the destructive power of our armed forces," the Cardinal warned, emphasizing that the American people deserve better.

The Archdiocese of Chicago is one of the largest in the United States.
