The Minister of Maritime Affairs, Vassilis Kikilias, expressed his concern about attacks on Greek-owned ships in the Middle East during a speech at the Economist conference.

Mr. Kikilias stressed that attacks by drones and missiles had been confirmed, but fortunately all sailors are in good health. He also referred to geopolitical developments and their impact on shipping and global trade.

"We have confirmed attacks on Greek-owned ships by drones, missiles, etc. I am very, very happy and grateful that all our sailors are well, all our ships are okay," he said.

The Minister of Maritime Affairs also referred to the role of Greek shipping in the international economy, noting that the Greek fleet represents 20% of global freight transport and 25% of LNG carriers.

Finally, he referred to discussions on the transition of shipping to low-emission fuels, stressing the need for realistic solutions and the support of the Greek government to the shipping industry.
