Knesset Discusses Death Penalty for Terrorists

The Knesset, Israel's parliament, is discussing a bill proposed by Justice Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir that provides for the imposition of the death penalty on those convicted of terrorist acts.
The Knesset's National Security Committee had postponed the discussion several times, most recently at the request of Gal Hirsch, the government coordinator for hostages and missing persons.
Ben-Gvir refused to postpone the discussion again, despite pressure from associates of Prime Minister Netanyahu.
Israel has not implemented the death penalty, with the exception of the execution of Adolf Eichmann in 1962.
