Approximately 10,000 veterans held a silent march in Copenhagen, protesting Donald Trump's comments regarding the contribution of NATO troops in Afghanistan. The march was organized by the Danish Veterans Association.

Protesters gathered at Kastellet and marched towards the American embassy, where a minute of silence was observed and a wreath was laid. Trump's statements, implying that the troops stayed 'a little away from the front lines,' sparked strong reaction in Denmark.

As a sign of protest, 44 flags bearing the names of Danish soldiers killed in Afghanistan had been placed in front of the embassy, which were initially removed and then re-planted by the American ambassador.

Søren Knudsen, vice president of the veterans association, stated that Trump's statements are an insult to the values they defended together.

Henning Andersen, a Danish veteran who served in Cyprus, expressed his outrage at Trump's statements, emphasizing that he does not know the truth about the sacrifices of the soldiers.
