Istanbul: Patriarch Bartholomew Meets US Ambassador

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met with the US Ambassador to Turkey, Thomas Barack, in Istanbul. Discussions included the reopening of the Theological School of Halki, the situation of Christians in Syria, and the position of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Turkey.

The meeting took place on August 11 in Phanar. Patriarch Bartholomew and Thomas Barack also discussed the upcoming patriarchal visit to the USA in September. The ambassador was accompanied by members of the US Consulate General in Istanbul and his son, Jayden.
