Aeroflot Hit by Cyberattack: Dozens of Flights Grounded

Russian airline Aeroflot was forced to cancel dozens of flights due to a failure in its information systems following a cyberattack. Two hacker groups claiming to support Ukraine have claimed responsibility.
Prosecutorial authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The hacker group Silent Crow, in collaboration with the Belarusian group Cyberpartisans BY, claimed responsibility for the attack, stating it was in retaliation for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Aeroflot canceled more than 50 flights to destinations within Russia, as well as to Minsk, Belarus, and Yerevan, Armenia. Chaos ensued at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow, with travelers waiting for their luggage.
The hackers claim to have destroyed 7,000 of the company's servers and gained access to employee and executive data, threatening to publish passengers' personal data. In 2024, Aeroflot served 55.3 million passengers.
