Libya has formally requested Lebanon to extradite Hannibal Gaddafi following a Lebanese court's decision to release him on $11 million bail.

The Libyan Prime Minister's political advisor, Ibrahim Dbeibah, led an official delegation to Beirut to discuss the terms of extradition with Lebanese authorities, according to Lebanon 24. The discussions concern the son of Muammar Gaddafi.

Hannibal Gaddafi was arrested in 2015 and has been detained in Lebanon since. The Libyan delegation also submitted the results of an investigation into the disappearance of Shia Imam Musa al-Sadr in 1978.

Hannibal Gaddafi was abducted in 2015 by militants from the "Amal" movement and is accused of concealing information about the disappearance of Imam al-Sadr. Lawyer Laurent Bayon has questioned the charges, noting that Gaddafi was only two years old when al-Sadr disappeared.

Imam Musa al-Sadr disappeared in 1978 after a meeting with Colonel Gaddafi in Tripoli.
