Mattarella: The situation in Gaza is unacceptable

Italian President Sergio Mattarella has expressed his concern about the deteriorating situation in Gaza, calling it "unacceptable." In statements to journalists before the summer holidays, he stressed the need for Israel to respect humanitarian law.

Mattarella also condemned anti-Semitism and the lack of tolerance for differing views.

Referring to the bombing of the Catholic Church of the Holy Family in Gaza, he recalled the Latin saying "to err is human, but to persist is diabolical."
