Machado: Venezuela Will Be Freed With Trump's Help
Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado stated that the country will begin 'a real transition to democracy' after the arrest of former President Nicolás Maduro by the United States.
She added that the 'remnants' of the 'criminal regime' will eventually dissolve. 'We are now in the early stages of a real transition to democracy,' Machado said, speaking to reporters in Washington, one day after meeting with US President Donald Trump.
Machado praised Trump but avoided criticizing his approach to the post-Maduro era for Venezuela. The American president judged that the opposition leader does not have the support she needs within her country to govern.
Yesterday, while Machado was visiting the White House, CIA Director John Ratcliffe was visiting Caracas and met with Delsy RodrĂguez.
