Medvedev Declares EU an Enemy of Russia

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stated that the European Union has evolved into an enemy of Russia, posing a direct threat to its security. Moscow now opposes Ukraine's accession to the EU.
Medvedev, currently the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that the EU has transformed into an anti-Russian organization that is gradually becoming a military bloc. "Brussels today is the real enemy of Russia," he wrote via Telegram, adding that the EU is as much a threat as NATO.
Ukraine applied for EU membership in 2022 and received candidate status. Medvedev stated that bilateral cooperation between Moscow and individual EU member states should continue.
