Medvedev: Putin and Trump Showed Negotiations Are Possible

Dmitry Medvedev stated that the recent summit in Alaska proved that negotiations between the US and Russia are possible without preconditions, even amidst the ongoing 'special military operation' in Ukraine.

In a Telegram post, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council summarized the results of the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. According to Medvedev, a mechanism for high-level meetings between the two countries has been restored, free from ultimatums and threats.

Medvedev claimed that Putin presented Russia's terms for ending the conflict in Ukraine, and that Trump refused to escalate pressure on Russia, at least for now.
