Merz: Germany will not participate in a war with Iran

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated during his visit to Norway that Germany will not be involved in a war with Iran.

"This is not our war. Germany is not part of this war and we don't want to be," Merz emphasized.

Merz also mentioned that Germany will not participate in protecting ships in the Strait of Hormuz. He also criticized the US for a possible lifting of sanctions on Russian oil, expressing his desire to know Washington's motives.

According to Merz, during a teleconference of the G-7 leaders, the six expressed their opposition to President Trump's decision to ease sanctions against Russia.

The Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, agreed with Merz's statements.

It is noted that the EU's dependence on oil from Arab countries is small, reaching only 6%. The main suppliers of the EU are the USA, Norway and Kazakhstan.
