Metsola: We do not recognize Maduro as President of Venezuela

The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, stated that the European Parliament does not recognize Nicolás Maduro as the legitimate president of Venezuela.

In a post on the X platform, Metsola stressed that "Venezuela will be free" and that the people of the country "deserve to live free after years of oppression."

Furthermore, Metsola emphasized that the European Parliament calls for full respect for international law, support for democracy, and recognition of the will of the Venezuelan people, while clarifying that the EU will continue to support a peaceful and democratic solution.

Metsola described the coming hours and days as critical.
