Bolsonaro: Discharge and Return to Prison – Request for House Arrest

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is expected to be discharged from the clinic and return to prison to serve his 27-year sentence for the attempted coup.

He was admitted to the DF Star clinic on December 24 and underwent surgery for an inguinal hernia. Surgeon Claudio Birolini stated that the postoperative course is good.

The 70-year-old Bolsonaro has faced health issues since the 2018 attack. In September, the Supreme Court found him guilty of the attempted coup after losing the 2022 election to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

He has undergone three surgeries for persistent hiccups. His lawyers are requesting that he serve his sentence under house arrest due to his health condition and recent skin cancer diagnosis.
