Nagasaki: Minute of Silence Marks 80th Anniversary of Atomic Bombing

A minute of silence was observed in Nagasaki, precisely at the time of the atomic bomb explosion dropped by an American bomber 80 years ago. The restored bell tower of a local church rang for the first time since then.
On August 9, 1945, at 11:02 AM, Nagasaki experienced the horror of the nuclear bombing, three days after Hiroshima. Approximately 74,000 people died in the city, following the 140,000 deaths in Hiroshima.
