NATO: All member states to meet 2% GDP target for defense spending this year

All NATO member states, including Belgium, Canada, Spain, and Italy, are expected to meet the 2% of GDP target for military spending this year.
The Atlantic Alliance confirms that all 32 member states will allocate at least 2% of their GDP to defense. However, it emphasizes that a significant fiscal effort will be needed over the next ten years.
NATO member states have pledged to nearly double funding by 2035, to 3.5% of their GDP.
Overall, these commitments will constitute 5% of the gross national product of each of the 32 member states, with military spending expected to exceed $1.5 trillion in 2025 alone.
According to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Russia could launch a 'victorious' attack on Europe in the next three to five years if these decisions are not taken.
Poland will remain the Atlantic Alliance country with the highest percentage of its GDP allocated to defense in 2025 (4.48%).
