Delcy RodrĂguez: Venezuela Heads Towards a New Political Era

Venezuela is heading towards a "new political era," stated interim President Delcy RodrĂguez, following the arrest of Nicolás Maduro by U.S. forces on January 3rd.
RodrĂguez emphasized the need for tolerance and respect for ideological and political diversity. According to her, Caracas has released 406 political prisoners since December, a process initiated by Maduro.
The NGO Foro Penal reports 180 releases in two waves, while the process remains ongoing. Today, at least 17 journalists were released, including Roland Carreño.
RodrĂguez ruled out the release of individuals accused of serious crimes, such as homicides and drug trafficking, as well as offenses related to constitutional order, hatred, violence, and intolerance.
Under Maduro's presidency, hundreds of people were arrested for "incitement of hatred" and "treason," mainly during election periods and political demonstrations.
