U.S. Deploys Military Forces off the Coast of Venezuela

The United States is deploying military forces off the coast of Venezuela, aimed at combating drug cartels. Three U.S. Navy destroyers, equipped with guided missiles and the Aegis system, are expected to be deployed within the next 36 hours.
According to Reuters, the ships are the USS Gravely, USS Jason Dunham, and USS Sampson. Approximately 4,000 sailors and marines will participate in the operation. A U.S. official stated that P-8 spy planes, warships, and an attack submarine will also be used.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro stated that his country would defend its seas, skies, and territories, referring to a 'bizarre, strange threat from a declining empire'.
