US suspends visa approvals for Palestinian travel document holders

The US government has suspended visa approvals for almost all holders of Palestinian travel documents, according to the New York Times.
This means they are not allowed to enter US territory for medical care, studies, visits to friends and relatives, or business purposes.
Two weeks ago, the State Department announced the suspension of visa approvals for residents of Gaza, citing a review of applications. The decision has been condemned by organizations supporting Palestinians.
