US Shoots Down Iranian Drone Near Aircraft Carrier Lincoln

The US shot down an Iranian drone approaching the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea. The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region.
A US official stated that an American F-35C shot down an Iranian Shahed-139, which was approaching the aircraft carrier “aggressively”. The drone, a type of “suicide drone,” was carrying explosives.
The downing occurred approximately 500 miles from the Iranian coast, posing no risk to the aircraft carrier or its personnel.
Additionally, Iranian warships approached an American oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz and ordered it to stop. The USS McFaul responded and escorted the tanker M/V Stena Imperative to safety.
CENTCOM reported that the Iranian drone made “unnecessary maneuvers” toward the ship, despite de-escalation measures.
