Ukraine Withdraws from Ottawa Treaty Banning Landmines

Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree for Ukraine's withdrawal from the Ottawa Treaty banning anti-personnel landmines.

For the withdrawal to take effect, it must be approved by the Ukrainian Parliament and the United Nations must be notified. A Ukrainian official stated that Russia uses mines against military personnel and civilians.

The parliamentary decision must restore Ukraine's right to defend its territories.
