The State Department has approved the sale of up to 3,350 RIM-174 Standard ERAM (SM-6) surface-to-air missiles to Ukraine in a deal estimated at $825 million. The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the proposed sale, which will be supported by funding from the US, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway.

The announcement follows a Russian strike with hundreds of missiles and drones against Ukrainian targets. According to the announcement, the sale will enhance Ukraine's security and support US foreign policy and national security objectives.

In the recent attack on Kyiv, at least 21 people were killed and 48 injured, while damage was caused to buildings housing EU and British delegations. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia remains committed to achieving its goals through diplomacy, despite ongoing attacks.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said that US President Donald Trump was not surprised by the attacks, stressing that the two countries have been at war for a long time.
