Ukraine is starting a new round of talks with the US today, Friday (19/12), focusing on proposals to end the war with Russia. The head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, stated that the talks will take place in Miami and will also involve European partners.

Umerov emphasized the need for reliable and long-term security guarantees for Ukraine. The Donald Trump administration is pushing for an end to the war, with envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner already holding talks with Ukrainian and European officials in Berlin.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the talks are not aimed at imposing an agreement and that progress has been made, but there is still a way to go. He may participate in some point of the talks in Miami.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance of Ukraine called on Europeans to continue work on a compensation loan, as the loan of 90 billion euros is not enough to cover the country's financial needs.

Vladimir Putin stated that Russia would stop the war if it received security guarantees, disclaiming responsibility for the war and blaming the Ukrainian authorities.
