Ukraine: Zelensky Announces Ceasefire Starting Tuesday Midnight

Volodymyr Zelensky announced a ceasefire in Ukraine starting at midnight on Tuesday, May 5th (towards Wednesday, May 6th).
In a Telegram post, the Ukrainian president stated that Moscow did not respond to Kyiv's ceasefire proposals, emphasizing that his decision stems from his belief that "human life is incomparably more valuable than the 'celebration' of any anniversary."
"In this light, we are announcing a ceasefire from 00:00 on the night of May 5th to 6th," he wrote.
Zelensky did not refer to a timeline for the ceasefire, noting that Ukraine will act "symmetrically."
Earlier, Vladimir Putin declared a two-day ceasefire with Ukraine for the celebrations of the Soviet army's victory over the Nazis.
The Russian Ministry of Defense warned that if Ukraine attempts to disrupt the celebrations, "there will be a massive retaliatory missile strike on the center of Kyiv."
