Pope Francis Appeals for Christmas Truce in Ukraine

Pope Francis has reiterated his call for a ceasefire in Ukraine, at least for Christmas Day.

Speaking to reporters, the pontiff expressed his sorrow that "Russia, it seems, in recent days has not accepted the request for a Christmas truce."

The Pope emphasized: "I repeat my appeal to all people of good will: that a day of peace be observed, at least on the day the Savior was born. May it be a day of peace throughout the world."
