Pfizergate: EU Commission Examined von der Leyen-Bourla Messages
Share on:

New information has emerged regarding the messages exchanged between the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the CEO of Pfizer, Albert Bourla, concerning the Covid-19 vaccine agreement.

A European Commission document, obtained by the New York Times, reveals that the messages were examined in the summer of 2021 by the head of the President's office, but were classified as 'short-lived' and not officially registered.

According to the document, von der Leyen's mobile phone has since been replaced, without the data being transferred.

In May, the EU Court ruled that the Commission was 'wrong' not to publish the messages. The Commission does not intend to appeal the decision.

The case has raised issues of transparency in decision-making within EU institutions.
