Politico: Trump Considers Ghalibaf as Potential Iran Negotiator

According to Politico, the Donald Trump administration is considering Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as a potential interlocutor and future leader of Iran.
U.S. officials report that Washington is seeking to identify a person who could negotiate an agreement focusing on oil and de-escalation of the conflict.
Trump reportedly does not want to strike Kharg Island, Iran's most important oil center, believing that a future leadership could reach an agreement similar to that reached in Venezuela.
Meanwhile, Reza Pahlavi does not appear to be among Washington's choices.
A senior White House official noted that Trump is interested in promoting a peace agreement within the week, seeking progress on the issue of the Strait of Hormuz and achieving a ceasefire.
