Putin: Trump's Leadership Skills Will Help Restore Moscow-Washington Relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed optimism about restoring relations between Moscow and Washington, arguing that Donald Trump's leadership skills could contribute to this effort. The statements were made during a visit to a nuclear research center.
Putin referred to the recent summit in Alaska on Ukraine, saying he saw "light at the end of the tunnel" in Russian-American relations. He also stressed that trade relations between the two countries continued even after the invasion of Ukraine, mainly in products such as uranium, plutonium and fertilizers.
According to data from the Office of the United States Trade Representative, trade in goods and services between the two countries amounted to $5.2 billion in 2024, a decrease compared to 2023. Imports of goods from Russia to the US amounted to $3 billion in 2024.
