The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a warning to airlines and aircraft operating in the airspace of Mexico, Central and South America, due to increased military activities.

The warning, which lasts for sixty days, refers to potential hazards to all aircraft at all altitudes and possible disruptions to satellite navigation services. The FAA has issued related notices (NOTAMs) for specific airspaces in Mexico, Central America, Panama, Bogota, Guayaquil, Mazatlan, and the eastern Pacific Ocean.

The warning comes after statements by former US President Donald Trump about possible ground strikes against drug cartels, as well as the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by the US military, who is accused of narco-terrorism.

According to reports, at least 47 members of the Venezuelan armed forces and 32 Cubans were killed in US military operations in the area.
