Russia Declares German Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Undesirable

The German Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, associated with Germany's Die Linke (The Left) party, has been declared an undesirable organization in Russia. The foundation's director, Daniela Trochowski, confirmed the news to the Tageszeitung (taz) newspaper.
According to the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, the foundation organizes programs and initiatives aimed at "inciting protests, radicalizing youth, and discrediting state authorities in Russia."
Jan van Aken, a leading member of the Die Linke party, stated that "Putin and his government fear the truth, fear criticism, and fear organizations that have the courage to publicly oppose war and repression."
The Rosa Luxemburg Foundation was the last of the institutions linked to political parties that had not been declared an "undesirable organization." The Heinrich Böll Foundation, Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Friedrich Naumann Foundation, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and Hanns Seidel Foundation were previously designated.
The foundations' offices in Moscow had already been closed since 2022.
