Russia intends to send oil to Cuba as 'humanitarian aid', according to diplomatic sources cited by the newspaper Izvestia. This move comes as Cuba faces severe fuel shortages due to pressure from the United States.

Russian diplomats in Havana reported that the shipment of oil and petroleum products will take place 'in the near future'. Cuba has slowed down many activities due to the shortages, and the government has announced energy-saving measures, such as rationing the sale of oil and reducing working days.

The situation has worsened after the termination of crude oil deliveries from Venezuela and threats from the US to impose tariffs on countries that supply oil to Cuba. Airlines, including Russian ones, have suspended flights to Cuba due to refueling difficulties.
