Russia and Ukraine have conducted a new exchange of prisoners of war, as announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The exchange took place on the eve of a potential meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump in Alaska.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 84 Russian servicemen returned from territories controlled by the Kyiv regime, while 84 prisoners of war from the Ukrainian armed forces were handed over. V. Zelenskyy stated that 84 Ukrainian prisoners of war, including civilians held for nearly a decade, had returned to Ukraine. He also mentioned that among those released were defenders of Mariupol.

The exchange of prisoners and bodies of deceased soldiers is one of the few areas of cooperation between Moscow and Kyiv.
