UNSC Calls on Iran to Cease Attacks in the Persian Gulf

The United Nations Security Council has approved a resolution calling on Iran to immediately cease attacks against states in the Persian Gulf.

The resolution emphasizes that the attacks violate international law and constitute a serious threat to international peace and security.

The draft resolution was submitted by Bahrain and Jordan and supported by 135 member states of the United Nations. Russia and China abstained from the vote.

Michael Waltz, the Permanent Representative of the United States, stated that the attacks were violent and indiscriminate.

The Permanent Representative of Iran criticized the resolution, arguing that the United States and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, violating international law.
