Sánchez: War in Iran a huge mistake, Cyprus also a victim

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has described a potential escalation in the Middle East with a war by the US and Israel against Iran as a "huge mistake" that will have serious consequences.
During a joint press conference with his Portuguese counterpart, Sánchez reiterated his opposition to such an intervention, stressing that "this war in Iran is, in my opinion, in the opinion of Spain, a huge mistake that we will pay for."
Referring to the dispatch of a Spanish frigate to Cyprus, Sánchez expressed solidarity with Cyprus, calling it a "victim of this war."
Sánchez stressed the need for cooperation between allied countries, saying that "among allied countries it is good to help when there is a reason and to point out when a mistake is made."
Asked about criticism from Trump, Sánchez responded with respect for the American presidency and society.
Portuguese Prime Minister LuĂs Montenegro stressed that the US remains an "irreplaceable ally" for Portugal, but added that "threats and accusations are not the right way for relations between allies."
