Seoul: North Korea May Send More Troops to Russia

North Korea may send additional troops to Russia in July or August to participate in the war against Ukraine, and Pyongyang continues to supply weapons to Russia, South Korean lawmakers said today, citing a briefing they had from the National Intelligence Service (NIS) of the country.
The National Intelligence Service believes that Russia may be preparing to launch a large-scale attack against Ukraine in July or August, South Korean lawmaker Lee Seong-Kyun told reporters after the closed-door briefing. The intelligence service cited a new troop build-up for the mission from North Korea and the recent visit to Pyongyang by Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu.
In exchange for sending artillery ammunition and missiles from North Korea to Russia, Pyongyang is likely receiving technical advice on satellite launches and missile guidance systems, Lee said, citing the NIS briefing.
The two countries have said their cooperation is based on an agreement signed by their leaders last June that includes mutual defense cooperation agreements.
