Ukrainian anti-corruption authorities announced the uncovering of a major corruption scandal related to the procurement of military drones and signal jamming systems at inflated prices.

According to a joint statement by NABU and SAPO, a sitting member of parliament, two local officials, and members of the National Guard are allegedly involved in bribery. The network aimed to secure state contracts at inflated prices, with kickbacks of up to 30% of the cost.

Four individuals have been arrested. Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared zero tolerance for corruption and emphasized the essential teamwork in uncovering it.

The independence of NABU and SAPO was recently restored after protests, following an attempt to place them under the control of the prosecutor general.

European allies of Ukraine praised the move, stressing the importance of the independence of anti-corruption institutions for the EU membership candidacy.
