Slovenia Bans Arms Trade with Israel

Slovenia has announced a ban on arms trade with Israel, citing the European Union's inability to take joint action due to internal disagreements.
The Slovenian government stated that it is the first EU country to take such a step, prohibiting the import, export, and transit of weapons to and from Israel.
Ljubljana emphasized that the decision was made due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. Slovenia had already recognized a Palestinian state in June 2024.
Furthermore, in early July, Slovenia banned two far-right Israeli ministers from entering the country, accusing them of inciting violence and human rights violations.
