Alaska Summit: European Leaders Respond to Trump with Joint Statement on Ukraine

European leaders responded to Donald Trump with a joint statement following the briefing on the Alaska summit and the views of Volodymyr Zelensky.
The statement, co-signed by Von der Leyen, Macron, Meloni, Merz, Starmer, Stubb, Tusk, and Costa, emphasizes that "international borders must not be changed by force."
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the discussion among European leaders to assess the information provided by President Trump and the results of the Alaska summit has concluded.
The leaders welcomed President Trump's efforts to stop the killings in Ukraine, end Russia's war of aggression, and achieve a just and lasting peace. They are also ready to cooperate with President Trump and President Zelensky for a trilateral summit with European support.
It is emphasized that Ukraine must have unwavering security guarantees to effectively defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. They welcome President Trump's statement that the US is ready to provide security guarantees.
Earlier, Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky and NATO leaders following the summit in Alaska.
