Geraperitis-Rubio Meeting Focuses on Regional Developments

Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the NATO Summit.

Reportedly, the discussion focused on regional developments in the Middle East and the Mediterranean. The US Secretary of State emphasized Greece's credibility as a partner and ally within NATO in the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as its role as a factor of stability in the region.

Mr. Gerapetritis referred to US efforts to de-escalate tensions in the wider Middle East region. Both ministers expressed their willingness to strengthen strategic bilateral relations, and emphasis was placed on the importance of interregional cooperation for promoting stability and development.

The US Secretary of State expressed his desire to visit Greece in the near future.
