Ukraine Meeting: Unity and Differences Emerge

Dimitris Triantaphyllou commented on the White House meeting regarding Ukraine, noting unity but also significant differences between the West and America.
According to Mr. Triantaphyllou, the meeting aimed to show unity towards Russia but highlighted the gap between Europe and America, especially after Donald Trump assumed the presidency. Leaders discussed security guarantees for the peace process between Moscow and Kyiv, without addressing issues of land exchange.
Mr. Triantaphyllou mentioned that Mr. Trump has a different view on Ukraine, desiring an end to the war. The Europeans, on the other hand, recognize the need to take greater responsibility for the security of Ukraine and Europe, despite internal differences.
The Professor emphasized that Europe must face future risks autonomously. Despite the superficial unity, differences remain, leading to a wait-and-see approach.
He pointed out that in the White House, there was a map showing 20% of Ukrainian territory under Russian occupation. The Europeans tried to convince Mr. Trump to evaluate information from the Russian side.
Mr. Triantaphyllou concluded that the end of the war and European security must be achieved in an organized manner to avoid security adventures.
