Christodoulides Meets Meloni: Cyprus and Italy Forge Strategic Partnership

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, met with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, in Rome. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and drafting a joint partnership document between Cyprus and Italy.
President Christodoulides emphasized the importance of coordination with Italy, especially in view of the upcoming Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. Close cooperation was confirmed in areas such as energy, security, defense, trade, education, and culture.
Discussions also covered issues such as migration, competitiveness, EU enlargement, transatlantic relations, and support for Ukraine. The latest developments in the Cyprus issue were also mentioned, with the President thanking Italy for its contribution to UNPOL.
Prime Minister Meloni expressed the common will to strengthen bilateral relations and emphasized the strategic geographical position of the two countries.
