The United States has announced the arrest of Zubayar al-Bakush, a suspect in the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed the news.

Zubayar al-Bakush was extradited to the United States and will face charges of murder, arson, and terrorism. His arrest was made by the FBI, and he landed at Andrews Air Force Base.

In the September 11, 2012, attack, four American soldiers were killed. Initially considered a spontaneous reaction, it was later recognized as a deliberate attack by extremists, some linked to Al-Qaeda. Two other individuals have already been arrested and convicted for their involvement in the attack.

The Benghazi attack became a symbol of chaos in Libya, highlighting the instability and the presence of terrorism in the region.
