Thailand has announced the suspension of its ceasefire agreement with Cambodia, which was co-signed in late October. This decision follows a landmine explosion in a border region that injured two Thai soldiers.

The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed "deep concern" regarding Bangkok's decision, while denying claims of recent mine-laying activities along the border.

The ceasefire agreement had ended five days of hostilities that resulted in the deaths of at least 43 people and the displacement of over 300,000 civilians.

Thai government spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat stated that Bangkok is suspending the "joint declaration," referring to the agreement signed in October in Malaysia by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Donald Trump, and Anwar Ibrahim.

The agreement included the release of 18 Cambodian prisoners held in Thailand, the demining of the border, and the withdrawal of heavy weapons.

Since the ceasefire came into effect, both countries have accused each other of violating the truce. The July clashes were the deadliest since 2008-2011.
