Thailand: Tensions escalate at Cambodia border, one dead

One person has been killed in Cambodia following an exchange of fire with Thailand in a disputed border area. Both countries accuse each other of initiating the shooting, jeopardizing the US-brokered ceasefire.
Thailand's Foreign Ministry has demanded explanations from Cambodia regarding the placement of mines, while Cambodia denies the accusations and calls on Thailand to respect the October agreement.
According to the Cambodian Defense Ministry, the shooting started near a disputed border village. Thai military spokesman Lieutenant General Vintai Suvari said Cambodian forces opened fire first.
In July, clashes between the two countries resulted in the deaths of 48 people and the displacement of approximately 300,000.
