Turkey: Espionage Network Dismantled, Planned Drone Missions to Cyprus

Turkish authorities have dismantled an espionage network linked to Iran, arresting six individuals across five provinces. According to Daily Sabah, the operation was conducted by the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT).
The network is accused of gathering military and security intelligence and planning attacks, including reconnaissance of Incirlik Air Base. It was allegedly directed by Iranian intelligence officials Najaf Rostami and Mahdi Yekeh Dehghan.
An Iranian national was allegedly planning to transfer armed drones from Turkey to occupied Cyprus and the Republic of Cyprus through his companies. Two suspects attended drone training programs in Iran in 2025.
The six arrested individuals face charges of obtaining confidential state information for espionage. The network used encrypted communications codenamed 'Güvercin'. MIT conducted hundreds of operations in 2025 against espionage and terrorist networks.
