Turkey and Libya Discuss Joint Army – Kalin and Haftar Meet in Benghazi

Military delegations from Turkey and eastern Libya met in Benghazi during a visit by the Turkish corvette TCG Kınalıada, according to the Turkish Ministry of Defense.

The Turkish delegation, headed by Major General İlkay Altındağ, Director General of Defense and Security, met with General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Chief of the “Libyan National Army,” the ministry said.

Discussions focused on joint actions for Libyan unity and the creation of a joint army. Turkey's Ambassador to Libya, Güven Begeç, and Consul in Benghazi, Serkan Kiramanlıoğlu, also attended.

Following the meeting, General Saddam Haftar visited the Turkish ship. The head of Turkish intelligence (MIT), Ibrahim Kalin, also met with Marshal Khalifa Haftar in Benghazi.
