Turkish F-16s in Occupied Cyprus: US Reaction

The deployment of Turkish F-16 fighter jets and air defense systems in occupied Cyprus has drawn a reaction from Gregory Meeks, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Meeks stated that this move "undermines the sovereignty of Cyprus" and called on Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to "change course immediately."
Ankara stated that the deployment was to enhance the security of the Turkish Cypriot community.
The Turkish F-16s are US-made and subject to the Arms Export Control Act, which restricts their use to legitimate defense.
