Trump announced the withdrawal via Truth Social, stating that he was revoking the invitation to Carney to join the 'most distinguished Council of Leaders ever'.

Carney responded to Trump's attacks from Davos, emphasizing that Canada thrives thanks to Canadians and that they are the masters of their own house. He also expressed his desire to make Canada a 'beacon' in a period of 'democratic decline', proposing an alternative path to progress.
